I am based in Hastings, East Sussex where I offer in-person and online sessions.I am accredited with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and a registered member of the British Counselling and Psychotherapy Association
  • I have worked as a Registered General Nurse in the National Health Service. Over the last 9 years I have retrained as counsellor. I have always had an interest in health and think mental health is connected to our overall wellbeing
  • I see clients face to face and use the online platform Zoom. Sessions are tailored to suit each individual and what their needs may be. I have worked for Anxiety UK as an Approved Therapist. I have an interest in anxiety and how it presents. I have found that talking about anxiety can really help to understand and address what the underlying causes are
  • I have completed four years of Transactional Analysis (TA) counselling and psychotherapy training and have obtained a Diploma in TA Counselling and psychotherapy. I am currently working toward a psychotherapy qualification to qualify as an adult psychotherapist accredited with the UK Council for Psychotherapy
  • My previous counselling experience includes working within the volunteer sector gaining experience in Perinatal Mental Health and young people services

What is counselling and how can it help?

  • Counselling is a form of talking therapy that is usually held weekly for 50 minutes at an agreed time
  • It allows people to discuss their emotional issues and difficult feelings in a space that is empathetic and non judgemental
  • It can be beneficial to talk about how we feel, what we think and how we be behave in more depth
  • This can help to increase our self awareness, validate experiences and help us to connect to our thoughts and feelings
  • Having a session on a weekly basis gives us a time to reflect on what is going on in our life, our past experiences and hopes and fears for the future
  • Counselling can help us to identify patterns of behaviour that may be rooted in childhood, develop new ways of coping and help us to make decisions about our wellbeing
  • I offer a reduced cost initial assessment session which gives us a chance to meet and talk about the reasons you are seeking counselling
  • If we decide to work together sessions are based on what you may need
  • The sessions are client led in that we contract together what you would like to focus on, sometimes this may unravel with ongoing sessions

Transactional Analysis Counselling

Transactional analysis is a psychoanalytical theory of personality, communication and social interactions between individuals.

Philosophical beliefs that underpins Transactional Analysis practice is:

  • Everyone is OK, each person has importance and validity
  • Everyone has the capacity to think and influence their life by the decisions they make
  • We have capacity for change, people have choices and can decide their destiny

TA has become a widely respected tool in the counselling and psychotherapy field and is being used to foster working relationships within education and business. The concepts are simple to learn, effective and can be used collaboratively with other therapy models such as Person – Centred, Gestalt, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
