About me

Hi, I am Charlotte, welcome to my website, I offer counselling sessions to adults and couples aged 18+ in person or remotely using the online platform Zoom.

I have completed four years of Transactional Analysis counselling and psychotherapy training and have obtained a Diploma in Counselling. I have recently completed a certificate in Trauma Informed Practice and am working toward a TA psychotherapy qualification to qualify as a UKCP psychotherapist.

I currently work in private practice and am an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist. Here I work with different kinds of anxiety and fears. I have experience of working with social and health anxiety. My previous counselling experience includes working within East Sussex Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service and East Sussex NHS Perinatal Mental Health Service.

What is counselling and how can it help?

Counselling is a form of talking therapy that is usually held weekly at the same time. It allows people to discuss their emotional issues, problems or difficult feelings in a confidential environment. It is a useful space to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours in more depth. Counselling can validate experiences, increase an individuals self awareness and offers a space for self reflection. It can help us to identify patterns of behaviour that may be unhelpful, develop new ways of coping and make decisions about our wellbeing.

I offer a reduced cost initial assessment session which gives us a chance to meet and talk about what has brought you to counselling. If we decide to work together sessions are based on what you may need and reviewed regularly. Shorter term counselling can focus on immediate concerns, longer term it can inform longer lasting change. I aim to develop a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and comfortable to talk about your experiences.

Transactional Analysis Counselling

Transactional analysis is a psychoanalytical theory of personality, communication and social interactions between individuals.

Philosophical beliefs that underpins Transactional Analysis practice is:

  • Everyone is OK, each person has importance and validity
  • Everyone has the capacity to think and influence their life by the decisions they make
  • We have capacity for change, people have choices and can decide their destiny

TA has become a widely respected tool in the counselling and psychotherapy field and is being used to foster working relationships within education and business. The concepts are simple to learn, effective and can be used collaboratively with other therapy models such as Person – Centred, Gestalt, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
