About me

  • Hi, I am Charlotte, welcome to my website. Ripple Counselling originates from how our experiences can have a ripple effect in our lives. Counselling and psychotherapy can help us to explore and understand how our past can impact our present. I offer short, medium or long term counselling sessions to young people, adults and couples aged 18 and over. I am based in Hastings, East Sussex where I offer in-person and online sessions
  • I previously worked as a Registered General Nurse in the National Health Service. During the last 11 years I have retrained as counsellor. I have an interest in health and think mental health is connected to our overall wellbeing
  • I work in private practice, I see clients face to face and use the online platform Zoom. Sessions are tailored to suit each individual and what their needs may be
  • I have completed four years of Transactional Analysis counselling and psychotherapy training. I am working toward qualifying as an Integrative Psychotherapist accredited with the UK Council for Psychotherapy
  • My previous counselling experience includes working within the volunteer sector at Change Grow Live and East Sussex NHS Perinatal Mental Health Service

What is counselling and how can it help?

  • Counselling is a form of talking therapy that is usually held weekly for 50 minutes at an agreed time
  • It allows people to discuss their emotional issues and difficult feelings in a space that is empathetic and non judgemental
  • It can be beneficial to talk about how we feel, what we think and how we be behave in more depth
  • This can help to increase our self awareness, validate experiences and help us to connect to our thoughts and feelings
  • Having a session on a weekly basis gives us a time to reflect on what is going on in our life, our past experiences and hopes and fears for the future
  • Counselling can help us to identify patterns of behaviour that may be rooted in childhood. It can help us to develop new ways of coping and identify unmet needs

Transactional Analysis Counselling

Transactional analysis (TA) is a theory of personality, communication and social interactions

TA’s philosophical beliefs are:

  • Everyone is OK, each person has importance and validity
  • Everyone has the capacity to think and influence their life by the decisions they make
  • We have capacity for change, people have choices and can decide their destiny

TA can be used collaboratively with other therapy models such as:

  • Person – Centred
  • Gestalt
  • Humanistic
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
