What is counselling and how can it help?

  • Counselling is a structured process in helping to process life events. A session is usually 50 minutes long on a regular day at the same time, the number of sessions offered are based on need and are reviewed regularly
  • People seek counselling for many different and individual reasons including wanting to understand themselves better, improve their situation and change something about their life
  • Talking about our experiences, feelings, thoughts and behaviour can help to view them from a different perspective
  • Counselling can help to identify patterns of behaviour that may leave us feeling stuck
  • Counselling allows for a space to talk about ourselves without judgement and can empower you to make decisions about your wellbeing

Transactional Analysis Counselling

Berne’s philosophical beliefs that underpins TA practice is:

  • Everyone is OK, each person has importance and validity
  • Everyone has the capacity to think and influence their life by the decisions they make
  • We have capacity for change, people have choices and can decide their destiny

TA has become a widely respected tool in the counselling and psychotherapy field and is being used to foster working relationships within education and business fields

TA concepts are simple to learn, are effective and can be used collaboratively with other therapy models such as Person – Centred, Gestalt, Humanistic and CBT
